Here's how it should be

The right has used education and our children to block equal marriage for LGBT citizens. What if we counter with something that everyone can relate to? How about an image of your grandmother or grandfather losing everything because their same-sex spouse dies and there are no protections afforded by marriage? What if we see dear old grandma forced to give up the home where she and her partner lived for years because they couldn't be lagally married? I know it sounds straight out of "If these Walls Could talk" but the way we feel about our grandparents is something that does not change from one ethnic, social, political or economic background? Or how about talking about all the ways in which straights are similar to queers? Don't we tell the same stories to our children when they "walk in" on mommy and daddy or mommy and mommy? Don't we worry about who are children are going to school with? Don't we worry if the man at the bank will give us a mortgage because we're different? Let's mobilize the common ground and tap into the common fear. An attack on one family should be an attack on all families. Please forward this up and out - it might just be the way for all of us to become equal Americans.
